About Training and Placement Cell

The Placement and Training Cell of Nowgong Polytechnic, Nagaon, Assam looks after all the activities of Placement, Training, Internship as well as Higher studies. This also looks after the activities regarding the student’s training in different Industrial Organizations and counseling the students for their bright future. To run the cell effectively a central committee comprising Principal and the all the HoD of the department so that the departmental staff also contribute to the activities of the T & P Cell.

As far as Nowgong Polytechnic, Nagaon is concerned it has 4 different branches Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer   Engineering. And every department has again one subgroup with the faculty and student’s volunteer. This student volunteer helps the HR group with its Campus pool.   

The Training and Placement cell of Nowgong Polytechnic, Nagaon is operated by the Teaching faculty as additional charges as follows, in addition to the help from the Ministerial staff of the Principal’s office.

The Vision of the Institution is “ To be a leading Technical Institute by producing Diploma Engineers for Nation Building”.

So, keeping the vision in mind the T & P Cell has taken necessary steps to improve the student’s quality output.

1. To provide the Campus pooling for the final year students.
2. To make each student industry-friendly during the Diploma course they enroll themselves, it has been made compulsory 2 Internship training for every student.
3. Some of the students want to go for higher studies like B. Tech. or other post-diploma courses. In those cases, they are being prepared with additional help especially from Mathematics Department as well as their parent department by taking special classes.
4. To counsel the students the Counselling class is accommodated in the final year routine and updated from time to time.
5. The Industry Interaction Cell of Nowgong Polytechnic is helping by signing MoU with 8 nos of Industrial Organizations and more are in process. These have been done to expose the students to the Industrial environment as most of the organizations want the same.
6. The Entrepreneurship cell is also guiding the students in their entrepreneurial activities as some of the students are interested in entrepreneurship.
7. To improve their Life skill and Professional skills the students of 2016-17 & 2017-18 passed out batches and were provided special training from ICT Academy (MoU with AICTE) for 154 and 147 students respectively along with the regular classes in the even semester.     
8. As BOPT (Board of Practical Training) of MHRD Govt. of India is insisting the Diploma students be Industry ready as the board provides Scholarships for one-year Apprenticeship training in the industry registered under their portal. The students must register themselves in the NATS portal of BOPT(ER) after passing out and may complete the apprentice training within 3 years of completion of their course passing out Especially from Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Engg. Some of the students complete training in OIL, IOCL, ONGC, MSME Toolroom PGCIL, NEEPCO, etc.
9. Moreover, the final year students are motivated to one day/two-day visit to the project site from time to time which is arranged by the respective Department.
